Jesus on Prayer

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus speaks about prayer. He teaches his disciples what has come to be called "The Lord's Prayer" or the "Our Father." What is so special about this prayer? How do you pray?

  1. Now "The Lord's Prayer" is Jesus's model of a perfect prayer. It covers basically what most people pray to God for in one prayer, and it's also powerful. When I pray I thank God for allowing me to see another day, his blessings, grace, mercies, the well being of my parents and the rest of my family, and most importantly asking him to forgive me for my sins that I committed. I often say the Our Father prayer when I'm too lazy to fully speak to God.

  3. The "Our Father" keeps those who pray from continuously babbling during prayer. I don't pray "The Lord's Prayer" often;unless there is a situation when I absolutely need it. Otherwise, when I pray; whatever comes to mind is prayed upon. I also don't keep my prayers long. Continually praying for everything makes no sense and God knows my needs, so when I pray upon them they are sent from him.

  4. This prayer is special because it sums up everything you pray for in one prayer. In one prayer that is really powerful like Tyler said. I pray by saying the Our Father and thanking God for all he does. I pray for all especially for those in need. I make sure that I don't only ask for favors when I pray.

  5. The "Our Father" is very important to pray because it unites us together as one. I believe that by doing this it sends a powerful message. I usually pray for blessings for me ,family, and for others. So then I feel assured that God has heard my prayer.

  6. It is special because it is reminding us to forgive each other no matter what. Not only this but that God the Heavenly Father will forgive us too if we do so. The way I pray is in silence every night before I go to sleep. It takes me about 10 to 30 minutes or maybe even longer depending on what I'm praying for.I start my prayers off asking for forgiveness and thanking God for my family, friends, and everything he has done for me and I end them by asking for protection over family, friends, and myself or maybe if there is something bad going on in the world that needs prayer.

  7. The significance of this prayer is that it's the foundation to the way we pray and how we interact with God. Jesus tells his disciples that you don't have to let the whole world know when you're praying. I like to pray in silence, and every once in a while I'll let out a joyous "Thank you Jesus".

  11. Prayer is an opportunity to spend time with God. To really understand the heart of God, you need to pray. In John 15:15, Jesus says He no longer calls us his servants, but calls us His friends. Talking with God develops a deeper relationship with Him
